The H.E.A.R.T. of Grandparenting (5 keys to being the best grandparent possible) by Ken R. Canfield, is a book I recommend for grandparents. This book covers grandparenting in the areas of: Heritage, Example, Angelic Influence, Reconciliation, Teacher. He gives excellent examples of how we can be intentionally good role models in the lives of our grandchildren.
One thing he mentioned under “Heritage” was recording your story in writing (autobiography) to share a little at a time with your family. He suggested several approaches. My approach is to start with my birth and list each place I lived and what ages I lived there. Then, under each place, I write down whatever memories I have from that time span. I made no attempt to put the memories in chronological order, other than to place them under a particular location and age range. I put them in a loose leaf notebook so I can add pages to any section later, as new memories come to mind.

Regardless of whether or not you choose to record your memories, this book is full of thought-provoking ideas about how we can intentionally be good role models for our grandchildren (or other young people in our lives).
